This position requires knowledge of law enforcement, jail, clerical and court system procedures. This individual will have daily contact with the public. He/she is responsible for preparing, receiving, processing and filing inmate files and related documents. This individual will be responsible for sending bonds and other court-related documents to the appropriate court.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Duties include the following:

Checks and processes inmate files.

Confirms through DPS all inmate charges are correctly reported.

Corrects all booking errors through EDR system of DPS and Odyssey.

Processes court paperwork (i.e. complaints, bonds, warrants, checks) to JP and Municipal Courts.

Provides fingerprints/photos of all New Braunfels Police Department arrests.
-
Processes out of county arrest court paperwork and send charges/fingerprints to DPS.

Processes expungements and non-disclosures.
-
Maintains offsite records inventory. Box and request files from Safe site.

Checks and sends bonds into Odyssey and emails to appropriate courts.

Answers telephone inquiries and is a back up for jail administration phones.

Files inmate permanent records.

Requests criminal history reports from the state.
-
Prepares Uniform Crime Report for state and federal systems each month.

Prepares Social Security report for Social Security Administration each month.

Processes and track record destruction per County Clerk and State schedules.

Processes and enters inmate incident reports.

Processes all Open Records requests from Federal, State, Nationwide and local Law Enforcement/Fire Department agencies, all military branches, news media, lawyers, bonding companies, the public and Texas Department of Corrections.

Trains new jailers on Criminal Justice Information System reference to Odyssey and the Livescan machine.

Liaison between Livescan vendor and our agency.

Updates Odyssey with updated offense codes.

Liaison between records destruction company and our agency.

Assists in requesting background information for potential jail employees.

Attendance is an essential function of the job.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to meet TCLEOSE and Department requirements for psychological and medical examinations. The individual should possess a thorough working knowledge of jail procedures and practices. Two (2) years of experience is desirable. Other specialized job requirements include fingerprinting and computer use.
