Job Title: Crisis Admissions Assessor for children, ID/DD, and adults population for crisis programs


Job Summary


The Crisis Admission Assessor is responsible for conducting comprehensive clinical assessments for individuals in behavioral health crises to determine eligibility and appropriate placement in crisis homes or crisis stabilization centers. This role requires mobility to travel between multiple sites and community locations to complete timely, in-person assessments while ensuring safety, stabilization, and continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities


  • Conduct face-to-face (primary) admission assessments for individuals in crisis placement.
  • Travel to crisis homes, crisis stabilization centers, hospitals, and community locations to complete in-person evaluations for admission.
  • Evaluate mental health status, substance use, and risk (suicide, homicide, self-harm).
  • Determine appropriate level of care (crisis home, crisis stabilization, inpatient, or outpatient).
  • Complete clinical documentation to support admission decisions and medical necessity.
  • Develop initial crisis stabilization and safety plans.
  • Coordinate admissions and communicate with referral sources (hospitals, mobile crisis teams, law enforcement, families).
  • Maintain compliance with state regulations, agency policies, and accreditation standards.
  • Participate in on-call or rotating crisis coverage as required.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
  • Active or eligible clinical licensure (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT).
  • Experience in crisis intervention, emergency services, or behavioral health assessment preferred.
  • Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and level-of-care guidelines.
  • Strong understanding of community resources and behavioral health systems.

Work Environment

  • Crisis homes, crisis stabilization units, hospitals, and community-based settings
  • Primarily field-based with frequent travel between multiple sites
  • Requires flexibility (evenings, weekends, holidays, on-call shifts)

Physical & Other Requirements

  • Must be mobile and able to travel between multiple sites to conduct in-person assessments (agency car is provided )
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively in crisis situations
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments, including community and residential settings
  • Successful completion of background checks and required training
