Critical Systems Technician II, HVAC

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of data center HVAC systems and supporting infrastructure with minimal supervision.
  • Perform all duties of an HVAC Technician I, while gaining experience in advanced troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and shop drawings to support system diagnostics and repairs.
  • Assist with air and water balancing to optimize energy use and maintain occupant comfort.
  • Conduct routine and emergency maintenance on a variety of HVAC equipment, including:
    • Air and water-cooled reciprocating chillers
    • Centrifugal and screw package chillers
    • Natural gas boilers and unit heaters
    • Electric duct heaters
    • Cooling towers
    • Pneumatic, DDC, and Variable Frequency Drive controls
    • Air distribution systems (AHUs, FCUs, fans, and related devices)
    • Various types of water pumps used in HVAC applications
  • Travel up to 30% as required for site support and maintenance activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial HVAC service experience required; 4 years preferred.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration principles and basic electricity for HVAC systems.
  • Proficiency with HVAC diagnostic tools and instruments.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, blueprints, and shop drawings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or related software.
  • HVAC/R Servicing Certificate (preferred).
  • EPA Universal refrigerant recovery certification (preferred).
  • Valid Virginia or Maryland drivers license.
  • Must be a US citizen; ability to obtain security clearance is preferred.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Offered compensation: $25/yr - $35/yr
