Critical Systems Technician III, HVAC

Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead technician for all mission-critical mechanical services and maintenance under contract.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with contractual commitments related to mechanical systems.
• Provide guidance, leadership, and technical knowledge regarding the installation, service, maintenance, and operation of data center mechanical equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, routine, and emergency repairs on a wide range of HVAC equipment, including air and water-cooled chillers, centrifugal and screw package chillers, natural gas boilers, unit heaters, electric duct heaters, cooling towers, and various water pumps.
• Work with pneumatic, DDC, and variable frequency drive controls, as well as HVAC air distribution systems such as AHUs, FCUs, and fans.
• Maintain, upgrade, and back up Building Automation Software as required.
• Mentor and support technicians of lower grade levels, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
• Participate in on-call assignments as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a basic air conditioning theory class.
• Minimum of 7 years of large commercial HVAC service experience required; 8 years preferred.
• Proficiency in the use of HVAC diagnostic tools and instruments.
• Experience with DDC, pneumatic, and variable frequency drive controls.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office or related software.
• Ability to satisfactorily complete any required client background checks or training.
• Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Certification preferred.
• VA Journeyman HVAC license preferred.
• OSHA Certification preferred.
• Valid Virginia or Maryland drivers license required.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance preferred.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks associated with HVAC maintenance.

Offered compensation: $26/yr - $40/yr
