About Kansas Medical Center, LLC
Kansas Medical Center (KMC) is located adjacent to the East side of Wichita. KMC is a fully physician-owned 58 bed general hospital that opened in 2006. Our mission is to provide patient-centered care through the empowerment of physicians and other caregivers enhanced by state-of-the-art technology. We are committed to the welfare of the community and will join with other healthcare providers to responsibly allocate healthcare resources to meet the needs of our less fortunate citizens.
KMC offers services in a wide array of specialties for both inpatient and outpatient services. The main campus includes 6 operating rooms, 2 procedure rooms, 2 Cath Labs, and outpatient services including X-ray, CT, MRI, PT, Lab, and Cardiac Rehab. In addition to our main campus, KMC operates three Family Practice clinics, a large cardiology clinic with multiple outreach clinics throughout the state of Kansas.
Community Life –
Wichita, the state’s largest city, has a population of about 400,000 while the 10-county region has 799,000. A hub of industrial, business, cultural and educational activities, the city features a revitalized downtown, a wide selection of museums and attractions, and a culture characterized by a sense of entrepreneurialism, independence and striking community pride.
The Greater Wichita region is home to some of the world's most recognizable brands, including Cargill Protein and Koch Industries. The area also hosts Bombardier Learjet and Textron Aviation, as well as Spirit AeroSystems, the world’s largest independent producer of commercial aircraft structures.
Significant investment has spurred a $75 million revitalization of five historic buildings into the Kansas Health Science Center – Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine (KHSC-KansasCom). The Greater Wichita region is home to 18 acute care facilities and hundreds of specialty medical practices. Healthcare is the second largest sector for regional employment, annually employing over 27,000 highly skilled medical professionals.
The region is largely supported by graduates from the areas nationally ranked nursing programs. Eight colleges and universities serve the region, including the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita which ranks among the top 10 schools graduating family practice physicians.
Pfizer produces over 125 million units of medicine annually in the region, and Fagron has invested $15 million in clean-air labs for the local production of injectable pharmaceuticals.
Andover High School and Andover Central High School rank #1 and #2 in the Wichita Metro Area Rankings, while Andover, Maize, Renwick and Goddard districts were all represented in 2024 rankings of the best 10 public elementary schools in the Wichita metro area.
