The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) will perform a variety of duties to ensure that quality nursing care is provided in an atmosphere that maintains the privacy, dignity and well-being of the patients. The CRNA is responsible for the patient’s pre-anesthesia and medication, review of the patient’s treatment plan and preparing the patient for interventional pain procedures and surgeries. The CRNA administers anesthesia, monitors the patient’s reaction before and after surgery, and accurately documents all anesthesia care. The CRNA is expected to work collaboratively with all members of the team including nurses and physicians in the operating and recovery room of Plum Creek Surgical Center.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master’s degree in nursing and graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program.
Experience: Minimum of one year prior work experience as a CRNA. Pain management experience is preferred.
Certificates/Licenses: An Advanced Practice license as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist is required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform pre-anesthetic screenings, evaluating the patient’s history and physical conditions and conducting patient interviews, and documenting results to predict anesthesia response.
- Develop anesthesia care plans and obtain informed consent from patients for anesthesia procedures.
- Select and administer anesthesia medications or treatments to patients undergoing surgery.
- Manage patients’ airway or pulmonary status during surgery and monitor responses using invasive and noninvasive techniques.
- Prepare prescribed solutions and administer local, intravenous, or other anesthetics following specified methods and procedures.
- Inform physicians/surgeons of the patient’s condition during surgery.
- Assist physicians/surgeons with patient care during surgery when appropriate.
- Respond to emergency situations by providing airway management, administering emergency fluids or drugs, or using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques.
- Evaluate patients’ post-surgical responses to anesthesia and take appropriate corrective actions if complications occur.
- Monitor patient vital signs and oversee patient recovery from anesthesia.
- Discharge patients from post-anesthesia care.
- Disassemble and clean anesthesia equipment.
- Adhere to all Greater Austin Pain Center, Plum Creek Surgical Center and specific departmental policies.
- Maintain satisfactory attendance. Punctual.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged period of time.

- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift or move 50 lbs
- Ability to transport patients in stretchers to various rooms/locations
Environmental Conditions: Medical Office environment; Ambulatory Surgery Center

Direct Supervision: Reports to the Physicians/Surgeons and CEO.
