CSSD Technician

Job Summary:

Responsible for cleaning, processing, storing and distributing equipment supplies and instruments from all units and departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Checks for and processes outdated supplies and instruments according to procedure.
• Assists in the maintenance of efficient and adequate stock levels.
• Washes and decontaminates used instruments and equipment by following prescribed techniques.
• Cleans, assembles, wraps, sterilizes and stores supplies and instrument sets or trays.
• Operates and cleans washer/sterilizers, sonic washer, steam and gas autoclaves and other related equipment by adhering to instructions.
• Handles instruments carefully as per procedure.
• Collects and distributes items to and from the units in a timely manner and correctly documents any shortage problems.
• Offers support and developmental support to Technician 2 {CSSD} as required.
• Inspects all instruments and devices to determine that they are in good working conditions.
• Reports any problems to the CSSD Manager.
• Promotes personal growth and education by attending in-service and unit staff meetings and offers suggestions related to improved service to units.
• Keeps work area and equipment clean.
• Maintains quality standards of service by adhering to established policies and procedures and follows all safety standards.
• Performs any other tasks and duties appropriate to his/her realm of knowledge, skills and experience as required by the employer.
