CSSD Technician

• Decontamination & Cleaning: Collecting used instruments, cleaning, and disinfecting them.
• Sterilization: Operating and monitoring sterilization equipment (like autoclaves) to eliminate all microbial life.
• Assembly & Packaging: Inspecting, assembling, and packaging instruments into sterile sets.
• Inventory Management: Maintaining stock, tracking supplies, and ensuring timely restocking for all departments.
• Quality Control: Performing routine checks and recording sterilization processes to meet standards.
• Safety Compliance: Adhering to strict health, safety, and infection control guidelines, including handling biohazardous materials.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Knowledge: Understanding of cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization techniques.
• Skills: Attention to detail, organization, ability to follow instructions, and effective communication.
• Physical: Ability to stand, walk, lift, and push for extended periods.
• Certifications (Often Preferred): Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or equivalent.

Work Environment

• Works in hospitals, surgical centers, and clinics.
• Involves close collaboration with nurses and surgical teams.
• Requires adherence to strict protocols to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
