CTE Teacher

Job Qualifications/Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree with certification, or eligibility for certification, as a teacher in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Endorsement or eligibility for endorsement in Special Education, Emotional Disturbance or Learning Disability. Teaching experience is preferred.

• Establishes and maintains an appropriate setting for attainment of educational goals established for the students within the Unit, including, but not limited to, maintaining classroom conditions, supplies, materials, and equipment.
• Develops lesson plans which are appropriate to student needs and aligned with Virginia Standards of Learning.
• Manages classroom behavior in a manner that supports a learning environment and is consistent with Timber Ridge School Behavior Management System.
• Facilitates the delivery of lessons in a manner that is responsive to student’s intellectual level, is based on sound educational strategies, and is intellectually arousing to students.
• Works closely with the residential staff as a member of the team.
• Participates with other Unit Staff members in the overall assessment of each student's needs, program, and progress.
