Culinary & Event Assistant

We are seeking a detail-oriented, passionate, and energetic Culinary & Event Assistant to join our team for interactive cooking classes and specialized culinary events.

This role is ideal for a proactive professional who loves hands-on cooking and teaching, creative content creation, meticulous organization, and health-focused culinary arts. You will work closely with the Executive Chef across all stages of event production—from seasonal menu planning and grocery sourcing to on-site event execution and social media storytelling.

Key Responsibilities

Event Prep & Culinary Support

  • Sourcing & Grocery Shopping: Shop for premium, seasonal ingredients at specialty markets (e.g., Whole Foods, DeCicco’s). Maintain strict budget mindfulness and organized receipt tracking.
  • Ingredient & Station Prep: Portion and organize pantry and perishable ingredients into station baskets for cooking class participants.
  • Menu & Recipe Development: Collaborate on recipe testing and adjustments for seasonal ingredients, food allergies, special diets, maternal nutrition, and culinary medicine.
  • Kitchen Logistics: Prepare lunches, desserts, and beverage setups for events. Ensure vehicles are properly loaded and packed with all required kitchen equipment.

On-Site Event Execution

  • Station Setup & Teardown: Load/unload equipment, set up guest stations, and ensure smooth event flow.
  • Vendor & Staff Coordination: Assist in directing on-site event support (bartenders, dishwashers, bakers, etc.).
  • Sanitation & Care: Maintain high kitchen cleanliness standards throughout events, wash cookware, dispose of trash, and wash/iron linens (aprons, towels, tablecloths).

Admin & Content Creation

  • Event Collateral: Print, assemble, and organize recipe packets, menus, and labels with impeccable attention to detail and grammar.
  • Social Media & Media Capture: Take high-quality photos and videos during prep and live events; edit engaging short-form content for social platforms.
  • Client & Event Planning: Maintain regular check-ins to review upcoming bookings, timelines, and logistical needs.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Location & Travel: Based in Westchester or Putnam County with a reliable personal vehicle, valid driver's license, and willingness to travel up to 1 hour to event locations.
  • Home Prep Infrastructure: A clean, spacious home kitchen with dedicated extra refrigerator/freezer space for ingredient storage and prep work.
  • Culinary & Dietary Expertise: Solid knowledge of recipe development, seasonal ingredients, food allergies, special diets, and wellness-focused cooking (culinary medicine knowledge is a major plus).
  • High Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational skills ("Type A" mindset) with strong grammar and proofreading skills for written materials.
  • Media Savvy: Experience capturing and editing phone photography and short-form video for social media.
  • Professional Demeanor: Friendly, polished, highly dependable, and proactive—someone who takes initiative without needing to be micromanaged.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to lift and carry heavy grocery bags and kitchen equipment, stand for extended periods during events, and maintain high energy.
  • Growth Mindset: Excited about building a long-term role within an expanding culinary company.

Uniform Requirement

  • Professional attire provided/required on event days: Chef jacket, black chef pants, and black non-slip work shoes.

Please submit your resume, a cover letter explaining why you want to grow with our business long-term, and links to any social media portfolios or culinary video work you have created.

Note: Position subject to background check and driving record verification.
