CURRICULUM AND ASSESSMENT ASSISTANT

Job Title: Curriculum and Assessment Assistant

Reports to: Director of Curriculum and Instruction; Assessment and Student Services Coordinator

Employee Type: Hourly At-Will Classified Position working for up to twelve (12) months.

Salary: To Be Determined by the Board

Job Goal:

To support the district in providing a well-aligned instruction, curriculum, and assessment program for all students. To increase staff competency in the development of curriculum and assessments while supporting the processes of textbook and resource evaluation and review. To lead the process of textbook and resource management and maintenance. To accurately collect, organize and report student and school improvement data while assisting in the system performance processes of program evaluation and academic return-on-investment.

An employee in this position will perform a wide variety of administrative support and secretarial-type duties at the District Office level. The tasks of this position may include public contact, communicating with vendors, supporting teachers, staff, and administrators, and working with the State Department of Education and higher education entities. Duties may include preparing letters or documents, running reports, creating procedures for staff, software applications, bookkeeping, entering and managing data, running reports as necessary, keeping records, logs, ledgers, and related documents, and interpreting District and State processes and procedures. The principal duties of this class are performed in an office environment and the Book Warehouse.

Qualifications:

1. Must demonstrate leadership in the effective use of technology in productivity, specifically around the use of Microsoft Office and Google Suite;

2. Preferred candidates possess a teaching credential or a university degree in an education-related field;

3. Ability to complete work within guidelines and make independent decisions;

4. Demonstrated knowledge of Idaho Content Standards, state and national assessments, and district curriculum;

5. Ability to support learning and integrate technology into their workload;

6. Demonstrated capacity to be self-directed, organized, communicate effectively and work collaboratively with all constituents;

7. Knowledge of data processing and visualization software is important;

8. Skill in explaining curriculum resources and testing processes and procedures to administrators, teachers, parents/ guardians and district stakeholders;

9. Ability to communicate, both in writing and orally, technical information in a way that is understandable to people without technical training;

10. The ability to create and maintain a climate of respect and fairness for all;

11. Ability to work as a member of a high-functioning team;

12. Understanding of the laws that govern students’ state and federal rights including protections within district policies.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Work directly with and provide assistance to the Curriculum Director and the Assessment and Student Services Coordinator.

· Assist in the implementation of a standards-based curriculum aligned with district and state standards.

· Lead the district's management of Advanced Opportunities (AO) with school leadership. Manage and meet AO deadlines, provide clarification and guidance about the program requirements to counselors, teachers, and patrons. Coordinate articulation agreements with colleges and universities.

· Manage the funding request process for the Advanced Opportunities program. Includes gathering, verifying, and submitting qualified funding requests to the State Department of Education for courses and exams.

· Pull reports from local, state, and national assessment data as it relates to individual student performance and school improvement;

· Prepare reports from local, state, and national assessment data as it relates to individual student performance and school improvement;

· Review and update state and local course codes to ensure compliance with ISEE, CTE, state statutes, graduation, and reporting requirements that impact funding and state accountability measures.

· Annually review, update, and release District Course Handbook;

· Oversees textbook warehouse management including such duties as communicating with vendors as needed, ordering materials, maintaining inventory management, facilitating barcoding, coordinating resource delivery, and leading organization.

· Direct textbook warehouse employees in the management of the warehouse.

· Work closely with district library managers and assistant treasurers to oversee resource utilization and training.

· Plan, deliver, and facilitate a variety of curriculum related professional development opportunities for district staff.

· Effectively communicate with the school staff and community about professional development opportunities, curriculum materials, and other assessment/technology resources.

· Report, assist, and troubleshoot curricular and assessment supports with District staff, teachers and administrators.

· Assist Technology Department in defining user access levels related to curriculum and assessment programs.

· Assist staff, teachers, and administrators in becoming proficient in accessing and utilizing adopted and/or technological curricular resources to support student learning.

· Willingness to work on a flexible schedule to allow for after-school training and summer work.

· Performs such other tasks as assigned by supervisor(s).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (must be performed with or without a reasonable accommodation)

· Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits the employee to communicate effectively in person, comprehend written and oral instructions, and hear sounds within the normal range of conversation and alarms;

· Sufficient vision or other powers of observation which permits the employee to view work-related materials; prepare reports as required; determine needed repairs and/or quality of materials;

· Sufficient personal mobility, agility, strength and reflexes which permits the employee to assist in barcoding, delivery and organization of the district’s textbooks;

· Job tasks will require lifting or moving up to 20-30 pounds occasionally, traveling to different sites, and occasional stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching and reaching.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Classified Staff.
