Curriculum Consultant - Computer Science (Middle & High School)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Urban Arts is seeking experienced computer science educators to review, refine, and provide feedback on our innovative curriculum for middle and high school students. We are looking for two types of consultants:

• Middle School CS Consultant: Focus on computer science and coding fundamentals, student engagement, creativity and assessment. Experience with Minecraft is preferred.
• High School AP CSP Consultant: Focus on AP Computer Science Principles alignment, accuracy, and detail-oriented review. Experience with Unity or advanced coding platforms is a plus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review curriculum lessons for clarity, accuracy, and alignment with learning objectives.
• Provide constructive feedback on coding content and pedagogy:
• Middle School CS Consultants: Ensure lessons are developmentally appropriate, engaging, and student-centered.
• High School AP CSP Consultants: Ensure lessons align with AP Computer Science Principles standards, learning objectives are accurate, and recent edits reflect APCSP expectations.
• Review and refine lesson documents with attention to detail, ensuring consistency in formatting, language, and instructional clarity.
• Suggest improvements to activities and instructional content to enhance engagement, creativity, and accessibility for students.
• Collaborate with Urban Arts staff to maintain high standards of quality and consistency across the curriculum.

HOURS: Estimated 50 - 75 hours

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• 5+ years teaching experience at the relevant grade level (middle or high school).
• Strong coding knowledge for the target grade level.
• Familiarity with relevant standards (CSTA for middle school; AP CSP Big Ideas for high school).
• Detail-oriented with excellent written communication skills.
• Experience with Minecraft (middle school) or Unity (high school) preferred but not required.
