Summary

Responsible for reviewing course design documents and assets for spelling, grammar, accuracy and clarity, as well as following course design guidelines to upload and organize instructional content in an online course. Part-time, remote/hybrid, approximately 29 hours/week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Ability to use and maintain eLearning syllabi, document, and asset templates.
  • Final editing and quality assurance of content in learning and content management systems for all eLearning productions
  • Ability to develop and perform systematic methods and processes for efficient course proofreading and editing
  • Follow current version of APA Style as well as in-house design guidelines for naming, structuring, and uploading instructional content
  • Communicate effectively with the instructional design team regarding course development issues
  • Monitor copyright matters and work collaboratively with White Library staff to assure compliance and accessibility for eLearning productions
  • Contribute to the tracking of eLearning productions and developing statistical reports
  • Complete assigned tasks and projects assigned within aggressive timeframes
  • Collaborate with multiple team members
  • Manage remote time effectively, as applicable
  • Other duties as assigned.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee is regularly required to sit or remain stationary for extended periods while performing high-volume digital editing, proofreading, and quality assurance tasks on a computer. This position requires the constant use of hands and fingers for typing and HTML navigation, as well as the visual acuity necessary to review complex course design documents and assets for accuracy.

Supervisory Responsibilities

May assist with the supervision of student workers to meet the needs of the school. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in writing, editing, formatting, style, and accuracy of text are required.
  • Good organizational skills are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word processing, Microsoft PowerPoint, and HTML editing is required.
  • Familiarity with learning and content management systems preferred.
  • A good understanding of the application of copyright law in an educational setting is desired.
  • The successful candidate must have the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks, as well as possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The individual must be committed to meeting deadlines and completing projects on time and according to stated standards or design specifications.
  • The individual will exhibit a life and service that is in full accord with the Spring Arbor University Concept and Community Covenant.


EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Experience working in multicultural academic environments preferred and individuals from diverse populations are encouraged to apply.
