Custodial Worker- Rookery

The Custodial Worker position will help maintain an environment that is clean, safe and comfortable for the members at the Rookery Activity Center. This position is responsible for performing a variety of building, custodial, and general maintenance duties in a manner that assures clean, safe, and sanitary structures and facilities. Duties include dusting, polishing, straightening furniture; vacuuming carpet, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, buffing floors and stairwells; stocking toiletries, cleaning bathrooms, locker rooms, and showers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performing a variety of building, custodial, and general maintenance duties.
• Dusting, polishing, straightening furniture, vacuuming carpet, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and buffing floors and stairwells.
• Stocking toiletries and cleaning bathrooms, locker rooms and showers.
• Assist in the set up and take down of event rooms and equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

Required Knowledge and Abilities

Requires the knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, safe use of cleaning equipment and materials, and basic repair and maintenance skills. Basic knowledge of safety regulations and record keeping practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Two years of custodial or maintenance experience.

Physical Demands

• Requires the physical ability and stamina to perform the essential function of the position.
• Ability to stand, sit, bend, and kneel for extended periods of time.
• Ability to carry and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

Fitness and Community Center environment.

Conditions of Employment

Adherence to all organizational and departmental policies is required.

Expected Hours of Work

This is a permanent part-time position. Hours will vary based on the Rookery Activity Center hours. Flexible hours, with the highest need being during evenings and weekends. Applicants must be available to work every other weekend. Must be 16 years of age or older
