Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and energetic part-time Custodian to join our day shift team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across our facilities. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will ensure that all areas are kept in pristine condition, supporting a positive experience for staff, visitors, and clients alike. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a well-maintained space while working flexible hours during the daytime.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough cleaning of all designated areas, including offices, restrooms, hallways, and common spaces using commercial cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Conduct floor care tasks such as sweeping, mopping, buffing, and polishing to maintain a professional appearance.
• Handle janitorial duties including trash removal, restocking supplies, and sanitizing high-touch surfaces to promote hygiene and safety.
• Assist with light maintenance tasks like minor repairs or reporting larger issues to facilities management.
• Support industrial or specialized cleaning projects as needed, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
• Maintain cleanliness standards by following established procedures for cleaning schedules and safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure the facility remains organized, safe, and welcoming at all times.

Requirements

• High School graduate
• Proven janitorial or custodial experience in commercial or residential settings.
• HVAC operational knowledge or experience preferred
• Boiler operational knowledge or experience preferred
• Building security system experience preferred
• Small engine/mechanical operational knowledge or experience preferred
• Good working knowledge of general maintenance and housekeeping
• Demonstrated knowledge of proper use of cleaning materials, cleaning implements and associated equipment
• Physical ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs. or more
• Ability to work well with staff, students, and parents
• Ability to work independently, be self-directed and follow guidance of Maintenance Supervisor
• Light mechanical work as needed
• Grounds duties as needed
• Knowledge of floor care techniques including buffing and polishing.
• Experience with industrial cleaning and facilities maintenance is preferred.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
• Strong attention to detail with a proactive attitude toward cleanliness and safety.
• Excellent time management skills to complete tasks efficiently during scheduled shifts.
• Physical ability to perform cleaning duties that may involve standing, bending, lifting, and moving supplies for extended periods.
