Position: Custodian for Grounds and Building Maintenance
Department/Location: District Wide
Organizational Scope:
Works under the Direction of the Director of Facilities and Head Custodian of Grounds and Building Maintenance.
Position Responsibilities:

Works across the district to prepare for seasonal demands of the athletic department.

Assists with maintaining both natural and synthetic playing surfaces.

Assists with the landscaping and maintenance of buildings district wide.

Assists with the operation and maintenance of district equipment and machinery.

Assists in snow operations.

Assist the Head Custodian of Grounds and Building Maintenance in small building construction and maintenance projects.

Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications & Physical Demands:
- Must work as part of a team and independently.

Previous experience or ability to learn the seasonal layout and maintenance of natural and synthetic playing surfaces in accordance with MIAA and National rules.

Previous experience in landscaping and grounds maintenance.

Previous experience or ability to learn the operations of grounds and turf equipment: Tractors, Zero turn mowers, Pressurized painters, Snow removal equipment, and other equipment as needed.

Must have a current driver’s license and own transportation.

A current Massachusetts Hoisting license or ability to earn in the first 6 months of employment.

Current Massachusetts Core Pesticide License or ability to earn in the 1st year of employment.

Must be able to walk 3-4 miles a day, lift up to 75 pounds, bend, twist regularly at the waist, knees and neck.

Basic computer competency.

Preferred experience with Turf, Landscaping, Horticulture, Certification.
Terms of Employment, Evaluation of Performance, and Salary:
The Custodian is a Nashoba Education Association Unit C position. Terms of employment, including evaluation and salary, are covered by the provisions of the Unit C collective bargaining agreement currently in effect. The hourly rate is the range, experience and qualifications will determine placement on the salary scale.
