Custodian/Maintenance Worker

The Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Library System is looking to hire a seasoned custodian to provide cleaning services for our beautiful building. If you're a passionate self-starter and task-oriented individual, the Pine Bluff/Jefferson Co. Library is the right place for you. The primary responsibility of a custodian is to keep the library clean and free of dust. While most custodians work indoors, some job duties may require working outdoors, for example, sweeping sidewalks, removing exterior trash, and snow removal.

Responsibilities

• Sanitizes restroom facilities daily, including sinks, bowls, and urinals.
• Refill all soap, sanitizer, and paper towel dispensers
• Collect and dispose of all facility trash.
• Clean building floor by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming; waxing may be required in some areas
• Operate an electric buff and scrubber
• Clean windows, interior, and exterior
• Clean restrooms, office spaces, public areas daily;
• Replenish cleaning and maintenance supplies;
• Organize Custodian storage areas;
• Notify supervisors about unsafe conditions or concerning the need for repairs or maintenance.
• Maintain all cleaning supply inventory and ensure all equipment is in working order.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications for Custodian

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required;
• Current driver’s license with good driving record required;
• Ability to observe safety and security procedures and to comply with policies;
• Ability to read and interpret written information; ability to write clear statements; ability to communicate orally;
• Must be able to do physical work and operate power equipment normally found in custodian operations;
• Ability to follow schedules and keep commitments;
• Ability to follow directions from a supervisor cheerfully and respectfully;
• Ability to demonstrate professionalism
• Must be able to manage time efficiently and to work individually as well as within a team.
