SUMMARY

The Custodian/Maintenance position is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment across all Early Childhood facilities, including classrooms, offices, restrooms, kitchens, playgrounds, and outdoor spaces. This role ensures facilities meet federal, state, and local health, safety, and licensing standards, supporting high-quality early childhood services.

The ideal candidate will know cleaning techniques, proper use of chemical cleaners, and general maintenance procedures, as well as the ability to operate custodial equipment and tools effectively. This role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety guidelines, and the physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds while performing tasks such as sweeping, mopping, moving furniture, and snow removal.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & CRITICAL SKILLS

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
• Ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs.
• Ability to maintain a positive and collaborative relationship/attitude across all ROE programs.

The Regional Office of Education is an intermediate agency between the Illinois State Board of Education and local school districts. The Regional Office of Education #33 works with nine districts across four counties: Henderson, Knox, Mercer, and Warren. We have eight programs and nine different services, with over 200 employees throughout the region.
