Position Overview
We are seeking a meticulous and highly organized Custody Accountant to join our finance team in Al Rayyan. In this role, you will be responsible for the accounting and reconciliation of custody accounts, ensuring the proper handling of assets, settlements, and reporting. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to work with a global financial services firm and gain exposure to the world of asset management and investment servicing.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and reconcile custody accounts for clients, ensuring accurate recording of all securities transactions, including purchases, sales, dividends, and interest payments.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of trade settlements, corporate actions, and cash movements.
• Prepare regular reconciliation reports between internal systems, custodian records, and external custodians.
• Process and verify dividend and coupon income, ensuring correct application of income received.
• Review and ensure accurate accounting for asset holdings, security valuations, and the impact of corporate actions.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements related to custody accounts.
• Work closely with internal teams and custodians to resolve any discrepancies in securities positions or cash balances.
• Support the management of client relationships by addressing inquiries related to custody accounts and investment transactions.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal accounting standards.
• Assist in the audit process by providing relevant documentation and explanations regarding custody-related activities.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to custody services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in custody accounting, asset servicing, or a related field in the financial services industry.
• Strong understanding of custody operations, securities processing, and settlement systems.
• Familiarity with financial reporting standards (IFRS, GAAP) and custody-related regulatory requirements.
• Experience using financial systems and accounting software (ERP systems, Bloomberg, etc.).
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, pivot tables, and data analysis.
• High attention to detail and ability to reconcile complex financial data.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly.
• Fluency in English (Arabic proficiency is a plus).
