Custom Home Painter (New Construction)

Are you a highly skilled new construction painter who is tired of the sloppy, blow-and-go mentality of production builds? Do you know how to execute high-end finishes on custom homes while maintaining serious speed? At The Picky Painters, we specialize in high-quality custom home builds. We need experienced painters who know how to work fast without sacrificing the details. If you are currently working on production homes where speed is the only thing that matters, this is NOT the job for you. But if you have real custom home experience, we have an uncapped profit-sharing and bonus structure that will pay you significantly more than a standard hourly rate. HOW OUR UNCAPPED BONUS STRUCTURE WORKS We bid our new construction jobs with a built-in buffer to reward efficiency. Every custom home is assigned a set number of budgeted hours based on what we plan on spending for labor. If you and your crew finish the job under budget while maintaining our high quality standards, the labor savings go straight into your pockets. Because new construction work is wide open—no furniture to move, no homeowners to work around, and clean job sites—an experienced painter can fly through these jobs and rack up huge time savings. Real-World Example: Let's say a custom home is budgeted for 100 hours of labor. Our planned labor cost for the project is $26/hr. If your crew's actual cost (base pay + taxes) averages around $22.50/hr, that $3.50/hr difference builds up as a bonus pool just for finishing on time. But the real money is in finishing early. If your crew finishes 20% faster (in 80 hours) with no quality issues, you don't just get to go home early—you get paid for the 20 hours you saved at the full $26/hr rate. If your base pay is $20/hr, finishing that 100-hour job in 80 hours means you earn an extra $8.00 per hour for the time you worked. That bumps your effective pay to over $28.00 per hour! (Note: We deduct 18% from the gross bonus to cover payroll taxes, but the rest is yours). The bonuses are split based on the hours each employee worked on the project. There is no cap. BONUS & INCENTIVE PROGRAMS: - On-Site Review & Testimonial Bonuses: Earn $10–$25 every time a customer leaves a 5-star Google review based on your work. Even better, earn $25 for recording a quick 60-second video testimonial with a happy customer or builder on your phone! - Content Capture Bonuses: The crew can earn up to an extra $75 per job just for taking great photos and videos of the work! We pay $15 per approved video and $10 per approved photo set. (Note: Quality matters! Content must be clear, steady, and selected by our marketing team to earn the bonus). - Healthcare Reimbursement: $100.00 value available after 90 days. - Employee Referral Program: $100 at 90 days, $200 at 6 months, and $300 at 1 year for bringing in great painters! WHAT YOU'LL DO - Prep and paint high-end custom new construction homes. - Execute detailed finish work, including spraying trim, doors, and cutting in sharp lines. - Work fast and efficiently without sacrificing quality. - Keep a clean, organized job site and work well alongside other trades. - Climb ladders, lift 5-gallon buckets, and handle the physical demands of the job. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR - Experience: You MUST have experience painting custom new construction homes. (Production painters need not apply). - Speed & Quality: You know how to move fast but still deliver a flawless finish. - Reliability: You are trustworthy, punctual, and show up early ready to go. - Requirements: You MUST have your own reliable personal transportation, a valid driver’s license, a smartphone, and an email address. - Background: Must be able to pass a national criminal background check. We are looking for people with no violent or theft-related crimes; if you have something else in your past, we may still be able to hire you. WORK ENVIRONMENT - Smoke & Vape-Free: We maintain smoke, chew, and vape-free job sites (outdoors 15 feet away is permitted). - Drug-Free: We maintain a strictly drug-free workplace. We do not accept medical marijuana cards as an exception; in our personal experience, 95% of people with cards end up using on the job site, which we do not tolerate.
