Claims Ambassador
Hooker Furnishings Corporation (NASDAQ: HOFT), is currently recruiting for our Claims Ambassador to work in our High Point, NC office. Hooker Furnishings Corporation, in its 102nd year of business, is a designer, marketer and importer of case goods, leather furniture, customized domestic fabric-upholstered furniture and outdoor furniture for the residential, hospitality and contract markets.
Position reports to: Director of Customer Service Relations
General Objective: To ensure the integrity of the claims process remains intact by working within a balanced environment of validating the claim, financial impact and service processing times and partnerships.
Other Requirements: Must be extremely organized with attention to detail, excellent time management and problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize work and multitask. A person with excellent attendance and punctuality, a positive working attitude and approach with strong verbal and written communication skills; proficient in MS Office (MS Excel and MS Power Point in particular).
Qualifications and Skills
Experience: Prior experience in insurance, claims processing, or risk management is preferred.
Skills: Strong analytical, research, and mathematical skills; proficiency with claims management software; excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; attention to detail; and the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
Key responsibilities:
- Evaluating Claims: Assessing claim submissions, verifying policy coverage, and determining the legitimacy of claim(s).
- Investigation and Documentation: Conducting thorough review, gathering supporting documentation, and maintaining accurate records.
- Risk Management: Projecting potential losses, identifying trends, and recommending strategies to limit financial impact
- Collaboration: Working closely with other departments/team such as warehouses, finance and external vendors to obtain necessary data and resolve claims efficiently and meet common objectives on a weekly basis.
- Reporting and Analysis: Utilizing software tools to analyze claims and C & A data, prepare trend reports, and support departmental performance evaluation.
- Compliance and Fraud Detection: Ensuring claims adhere to regulatory standards and identifying potentially fraudulent activity
- Negotiation: Negotiating fair dispositions with claimants while ensuring compliance with company policies.
- CRM Management: Field incoming emails/calls and managing case count within the 24hr timeframe.
- Time Management: Maintain excellent records to proactively schedule appoints for proper use of PTO as needed.

- Negotiation Skills: Effectively settle claims while maintaining fairness and company interests.
- Attention to Detail: Thoroughly investigate claims and document findings accurately.
- MS office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Navigate web based informational tools, Salsify knowledge is a plus.
- Knowledge of Financial deductions and adjustments is a plus.
- Knowledge of D365, SAP, AX and Power BI knowledge operating systems is a plus
- Strong organization skills.
