Customer Service Dispatcher

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Customer Service Dispatcher to join our transportation and logistics team. In this vital role, you will coordinate the efficient dispatching of freight and transportation services, ensuring seamless communication between drivers, clients, and internal departments. Your proactive approach will help optimize routes, manage schedules, and resolve issues promptly, contributing to the overall success of our supply chain operations. Duties

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for dispatching freight and transportation requests via multi-line phone systems and digital communication platforms.
  • Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Oracle Transportation Management, SyteLine, and AS400 to schedule, track, and manage shipments efficiently.
  • Coordinate with drivers, warehouse staff, and third-party logistics providers (3PL) to ensure timely pickups and deliveries while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor GPS and GIS data to optimize routes, improve transportation planning, and reduce delays.
  • Enter accurate data related to shipments, delivery statuses, and fleet management into relevant systems such as Shipping & Receiving modules and supply chain databases.
  • Communicate proactively with clients and internal teams regarding shipment updates, delays, or issues using professional phone etiquette and clear communication skills.
  • Assist in analyzing transportation data to identify opportunities for process improvements within logistics operations.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in dispatching within a transportation or logistics environment; familiarity with freight management is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Oracle Transportation Management, SyteLine, and AS400 platforms.
  • Excellent analysis skills with the ability to interpret GPS/GIS data for route optimization and transportation planning.
  • Proficiency in data entry, typing accuracy, and managing multi-line phone systems while maintaining professional phone etiquette.
  • Solid understanding of supply chain processes including shipping & receiving, fleet management, and logistics coordination.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with drivers, clients, vendors, and internal teams clearly and efficiently.
  • Familiarity with freight tracking tools such as GPS devices and GIS software; experience with 3PL providers is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail in data entry and dispatching activities.
