Customer Service Rep

Job Summary

The Customer Service Representative is a motivated, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and consistently demonstrates professionalism. This role is responsible for handling inbound customer communications, processing orders via phone, email, internet, and in person, and supporting sales operations to achieve company goals.

The Customer Service Representative works closely with the sales team, National Accounts, warehouse staff, buyers, and the Accounts Receivable team to ensure accurate order processing, effective communication, and exceptional customer service. A strong willingness to learn Peddler’s Son processes, procedures, and the produce industry is essential. This position plays a key role in maintaining customer relationships, resolving issues efficiently, and ensuring smooth coordination between the office and warehouse.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interpret and follow a variety of instructions and procedures
  • Retrieve, enter, and process customer orders accurately and in a timely manner
  • Assist in compiling statistical data and special reports as needed
  • Verify inventory availability for requested products
  • Calculate pricing and apply appropriate discounts
  • Handle customer inquiries and complaints, ensuring accurate communication with appropriate departments
  • Verify and maintain accurate and up-to-date customer information
  • Notify appropriate departments of order details and shipping dates
  • Review orders for accuracy and completeness
  • Assist the Accounts Receivable team with required documentation
  • Maintain clear communication between office staff and warehouse operations
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including HACCP, SQF, and OSHA regulations

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 1 year of data entry experience required
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Data entry speed of 8,000+ keystrokes per hour preferred
  • Highly self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and thoroughness
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to operational excellence
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
  • Background check and pre-employment drug screen required

Schedule, Compensation & Work Hours

  • Full-time position
  • Hourly wage: $20.00 – $22.00, based on experience
  • Saturday and Sunday work is required
    • Saturday: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
    • Sunday: 9:00 AM – 6:30 PM
  • Two days off during the week; days off are flexible based on business needs
