Customer Service Representative

Job Overview
The Customer Service Representative is responsible for providing courteous, accurate, and timely assistance to customers regarding water and wastewater services. This role supports daily operations by handling billing inquiries, service requests, and account management while ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, and in person regarding billing, service issues, and general utility questions
  • Process new service applications, transfers, and service disconnections/reconnections
  • Explain utility rates, fees, and policies to customers in a clear and professional manner
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, including high consumption and meter-related concerns
  • Coordinate service orders with field staff, including meter services and work orders
  • Maintain accurate customer account records in the utility billing system
  • Process payments and assist customers with payment arrangements when applicable
  • Assist with customer notifications such as service interruptions, meter installations, or policy updates
  • Handle customer complaints with professionalism and escalate issues when necessary
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.

Experience

  • Knowledge of utility billing practices, water/wastewater operations, or municipal services preferred
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to explain technical information in a clear, customer-friendly manner
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and utility billing software
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when handling difficult customer interactions.
  • Previous call center experience or customer support roles preferred but not required; we value enthusiasm and a willingness to learn!

Pay: $17.60 - $23.50 per hour
