Customer Service Representative & CAD/CAM Technician – Entry Level
Position Overview
We are a manufacturing company seeking an entry-level CAD/CAM Technician & Customer Service Representative to support both our customer service operations and the creation of 2D CAD drawings and CNC programming used in manufacturing production.
This dual-role position is designed to help the employee develop strong product knowledge, customer understanding, and familiarity with manufacturing drafting and CNC production processes. The employee will assist with daily customer service activities while also supporting the creation, modification, and organization of 2D CAD files and CNC programs for production equipment.
Training will be provided on company products, customer service procedures, CAD software, and CNC programming processes. The employee will gain hands-on experience working with manufacturing drawings, print interpretation, and CNC production support.
Hours (Full Time)
8:30am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday
No Saturdays
No Sundays
Customer Service Responsibilities
Responsibilities include a range of sales and customer service tasks, including:
-Order data entry
-Assisting customers via phone, email, or in person
-Reviewing order paperwork for accuracy
-Shipping data entry, including creating shipping labels and labeling packages
-Providing general sales and customer support as needed
-Acting as a backup for customer service during short-staffed periods
-Maintaining accurate customer records and communication documentation
CAD/CAM & CNC Programming Responsibilities
CAD/CAM-related responsibilities include assisting with the creation and maintenance of manufacturing drawings and CNC programs, including but not limited to:
-Creating and modifying 2D CAD drawings for manufacturing
-Preparing CAD files for CNC production equipment
-Assisting with CNC programming and code generation
-Reviewing customer drawings and specifications for manufacturability
-Verifying dimensions, tolerances, and drawing accuracy
-Organizing and maintaining CAD files and revision records
-Supporting production staff with drawing and programming updates
-Assisting with setup documentation and manufacturing instructions
-Communicating with customers regarding drawing clarifications or specifications
-Supporting process improvements related to CAD/CAM workflow efficiency
-Learning and following company manufacturing and drafting standards
-Assisting with nesting layouts and material utilization where applicable
-Supporting engineering and production teams with technical documentation
Note: The employee will gain hands-on experience assisting with 2D CAD drafting, CNC programming, and manufacturing production support.
Requirements & Experience Needed
Associate degree, technical certificate, or Bachelor’s degree in:
-CAD Drafting & Design
-Mechanical Design Technology
-Manufacturing Technology
-Mechanical Engineering Technology
-CNC Machining Technology
-Industrial Technology
-Engineering Technology
-Or a related technical field
-No prior experience required (entry-level position)
-Experience using a computer in a professional or academic setting
-Comfortable with multitasking and switching between responsibilities
-Ability to lift 30 lbs or more
-Ability to stand for extended periods
-Ability to perform basic math regularly
-Comfortable working with customers in person, on the phone, and via email
-Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
-Must live within a 20-minute drive of the workplace
Preferred Education & Skills
Coursework, degree, or hands-on experience in:
-2D CAD drafting
-Manufacturing technology
-CNC machining or programming
-Mechanical design
-Industrial technology
-Engineering technology
Helpful skills include:
Experience with AutoCAD, or similar CAD software
Basic understanding of CNC machines and G-code
Ability to read and interpret manufacturing prints
Strong organizational and documentation skills
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to learn company manufacturing standards and procedures
Attention to detail with dimensions and tolerances
