Cyber Security Engineer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Cybersecurity & Risk Management

• Monitor, analyze, and improve the organization’s overall security posture

• Detect, investigate, and respond to security incidents and threats

• Implement and maintain security best practices, policies, and procedures

• Conduct vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation efforts

• Manage endpoint security solutions, MFA, and access controls

• Perform system hardening and ensure secure configurations across environments

• Support audits, compliance requirements, and regulatory standards

IT Infrastructure & Operations

• Maintain servers, networks, endpoints, and core infrastructure systems

• Troubleshoot and resolve escalated technical issues across the organization

• Assist with system upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management

• Collaborate with vendors for system support, procurement, and implementation

Documentation & Collaboration

• Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and policies

• Work closely with IT staff and leadership to align security with business needs

• Provide guidance and training to staff on security awareness and best practices

• All other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Experience in cybersecurity practices such as incident response, vulnerability management, and system hardening

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft environments (Microsoft 365, Active Directory)

• Familiarity with network and endpoint security tools

• Solid understanding of general IT infrastructure (servers, networking, endpoints)

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a small team environment

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Preferred:

• Experience in regulated industries (gaming, casino, or similar environments)

• Knowledge of compliance frameworks and audit processes

• Relevant certifications (e.g., Security+, CISSP, CEH, or similar)

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred
• Equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

Preferred Certifications (or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe):

• CompTIA Security+
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
• Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
• Microsoft security or systems certifications (e.g., Azure Security Engineer, Microsoft 365 Security Administrator)

This is a hands-on position within a small IT team, ideal for someone who is comfortable wearing multiple hats—leading security initiatives while actively supporting day-to-day IT operations.
