The Office of Legislative Services (OLS) is an agency of the New Jersey Legislature established by law to provide professional, nonpartisan staff support services to the Legislature including its officers, members, committees and commissions. OLS operates under the authority of the Legislative Services Commission, a 16-member bipartisan panel with equal representation from each House of the Legislature.
The goal of OLS is to facilitate the work of the New Jersey Legislature and to enable and promote public understanding of the legislative process. As nonpartisan employees of the Legislature, OLS staff are prohibited from engaging in political activity or taking a public position with regard to any matter before the Legislature.
Description: Under the supervision of the Information Technology Manager, position safeguards the Legislative Information System (LIS), data, and network infrastructure.
Cybersecurity Analyst, Technical Services duties include: monitors the Legislative Information System network, AI systems, and applications for potential security incidents, or unauthorized attempts; receives and analyzes cybersecurity logs, reports, helpdesk tickets, events, threats, and alerts; responds promptly and takes appropriate action to mitigate threats; investigates and determines possible causes; designs and maintains procedures and guidelines to mitigate risk of threats, attacks, and data breaches; performs regular security testing, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing; evaluates systems for security control access to network, applications, and data; manages control mechanisms; limits access to authorized personnel only; implements multi-factor authentication as needed; participates in network and systems design to increase cybersecurity; evaluates cybersecurity training and makes recommendations for content and delivery; implements measures including encryption protocols and secure data transmission methods to safeguard sensitive and personal data and maintain confidentiality; develops and coordinates incident response plans; participates in incident response efforts in the event of a security incident or data breach; creates and maintains comprehensive documentation for all implemented security and emergency measures, assessments, and incidents; prepares security reports for management; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Cybersecurity Analyst, Communications duties include: monitors the Legislature’s communications systems, AI systems, and applications for potential security incidents, intrusions, or unauthorized access attempts; safeguards routers, switches, and IP telephony systems from potential threats; receives and analyzes cybersecurity logs, reports, helpdesk tickets, events, threats, and alerts; responds promptly and takes appropriate action to mitigate threats; investigates and determines possible causes; designs and maintains procedures and guidelines to mitigate risks of threats, attacks, and data breaches; performs regular security testing, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing; evaluates systems for security control access to the communications systems, devices, applications, and data; ensures encryption and authentication for voice communications; limits access to authorized personnel only; implements multi-factor authentication as needed; participates in communications and systems design to increase cybersecurity; evaluates cybersecurity training and makes recommendations for content and delivery; configures and maintains firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection and prevention systems; implements measures including encryption protocols and secure data transmission methods to safeguard sensitive and personal data and maintain confidentiality; develops and coordinates incident response plans; participates in incidence response efforts in the event of a security incident or data breach; creates and maintains comprehensive documentation for all implemented security and emergency measures, assessments, and incidents; prepares security reports for management; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Residency Law: Pursuant to the “New Jersey First Act,” all persons newly hired by the Office of Legislative Services, unless exempted by the law, shall have one year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. New Jersey State employees hired prior to September 1, 2011 who transfer from another State of New Jersey appointing authority without a break in service greater than seven days but who reside outside the State of New Jersey are not required to change their principal residence to New Jersey in order to comply with the Act.
Authorization to work: Selected candidates must be authorized to work in the United States according to the department of Homeland Security, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services Regulations. The Office of Legislative Services does not provide sponsorship for citizenship to the United States.
Pay Transparency: The salary range for this position is $125,000.00 - $133,250.00.
