Cybersecurity Research Intern

Riverside Overview: Riverside Research is an independent National Security Nonprofit dedicated to research and development in the national interest. We provide high-end technical services, research and development, and prototype solutions to some of the country’s most challenging technical problems. All Riverside Research opportunities require U.S. Citizenship. Position Overview: Responsibilities:

• Explore, develop, test, and deploy formal-language-enabled secure parsers on warfighter systems
• Explore new paths, ideas, and opportunities to demonstrate Riverside’s secure parsing capabilities
• Build tools and/or capabilities in languages like C/C++, Python, etc.
• Explore the tenets of language theoretic security, and the tools associated with it
• Assist in creating innovative security solutions to security engineering challenges
• Collaborate with team members on debugging programs, designing systems, reviewing papers, etc.
• Participate in relevant internal meetings

Qualifications:

• Pursuing a degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, cybersecurity, or related field of study
• Some familiarity with programming languages
• Self-driven with strong analytic, inferencing, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills
• Must be a US citizen

• Some experience in C/C++ and/or Python
• Some experience with Linux development environments
• Desire to be exposed to the following domains: cyber security, security software engineering, open architecture security, and/or general software engineering
• Desire to learn technical skills alongside how the business operates
• Ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff and peers in the group and across Riverside Research
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
