Damage Assessor/ Scout

UtilityPower is seeking experienced individuals to perform visual inspections of electrical distribution lines and address trouble tickets from substations to individual customers or businesses, identifying damage and accurately determining crew type needs, access availability, and any special equipment required.

This is a seasonal weather-dependent position requiring travel within the United States. Travel may involve using your personal or a rental vehicle. Assessors will be placed on a storm roster and contacted when weather-related events occur. Assignments may last from one day to several weeks, depending on the extent of damage.

Assessor Job Duties:

- Visual assessments of distribution lines to identify safety concerns and system damage.

- Possess a working knowledge of the components of electrical distribution infrastructure.

- Document and report findings in the format designated by the client.

- Ensure safety at all times, for yourself, your team, and others in the field.

- Read and interpret paper feeder maps.

- Communicate effectively and professionally.

Job Requirements:

- Firsthand experience with electrical distribution systems.

- Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures.

- Willingness to respond promptly to assignments, including short-notice requests.

- Valid driver's license with no time or state-based restrictions.

- Personal vehicle in presentable condition with full insurance coverage, or ability to maintain cleanliness and fuel receipts for rental vehicles.

Skills Requirements for Assessor:

- Experience in electrical distribution, lineman work, engineering, substation construction.

- Ability to pass a proficiency exam during onboarding.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to stand or walk for long periods and distances.

- Capacity to handle stressful situations and long hours.
