Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Dance Instructor and Choreographer to inspire and cultivate the love of dance across diverse age groups and skill levels. In this role, you will design engaging dance curricula, teach classes, and craft innovative choreography that energizes students and showcases their talents. Your enthusiasm for dance, combined with your ability to manage classes effectively and foster a positive learning environment, will help students develop their skills, confidence, and appreciation for movement. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to influence lives through the art of dance while demonstrating your creativity and instructional expertise. This is a summer position from June 22 to August 14, 2026.
Duties
- Develop comprehensive dance curricula tailored to different age groups, skill levels, and styles such as ballet, theater dance, or contemporary
- Lead engaging dance classes for children, teens, and adults, ensuring a fun and motivating atmosphere
- Create original choreography for performances, recitals, or competitions that highlight students’ strengths
- Manage classroom behavior with effective behavior management strategies to maintain a safe and respectful environment
- Provide individualized coaching and tutoring to help students improve technique and performance skills
- Incorporate elements of theater, childhood development, and special education principles into lesson plans to enhance learning outcomes
- Utilize photography skills to document performances and progress for promotional or educational purposes
- Collaborate with other instructors on curriculum development and special projects such as seasonal showcases or community events
Experience
- Proven experience in teaching dance classes across various age groups, including early childhood education and preschool experience
- Strong background in choreography creation for performances or competitions
- Knowledge of curriculum development tailored to different learning needs and styles
- Classroom management skills with the ability to foster a positive learning environment for children and adults alike
- Experience working with children with special needs or in inclusive educational settings is a plus
- Familiarity with ballet techniques, theater arts, or other dance styles such as dancing or sewing related to costume design is desirable
- Prior experience in tutoring or working with students in a classroom setting is highly valued
- Background in culinary arts or cooking is not required but can be beneficial for interdisciplinary programs involving movement and nutrition education
