We are seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst / Business Intelligence Analyst with strong expertise in Power BI, SQL, and modern data engineering practices. This role will be responsible for transforming complex data into actionable insights, building scalable reporting systems, and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organisation. The ideal candidate has deep technical capability, strong analytical thinking, and the ability to collaborate with finance, operations, and senior leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities
Business Intelligence & Reporting
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, data models, and analytical reports with a focus on accuracy, performance optimisation, and user experience.
- Translate business requirements into robust BI solutions, ensuring clarity and consistency in reporting across all departments.
- Create visually compelling insights for board packs, financial reviews, operational reporting, and senior leadership presentations.
Data Engineering & Automation
- Build automated ETL/ELT pipelines using Microsoft Fabric or similar tools to ensure timely and reliable data refreshes.
- Develop reusable data flows, Lakehouse/Warehouse objects, and transformation pipelines using Power Query M, SQL, and Python where applicable.
- Implement automated validation, reconciliation, and data-quality checks across all datasets.
Data Analysis & Insights
- Extract, query, and analyse large datasets from databases, APIs, and cloud data platforms using advanced SQL.
- Identify trends, behavioural patterns, and operational drivers to support forecasting, capacity planning, revenue tracking, and strategic decision-making.
- Maintain and monitor key business KPIs, ensuring metrics are accurate, well-documented, and aligned with business definitions.
Data Governance & Best Practices
- Ensure strong documentation, version control (Git), and adherence to data governance standards.
- Provide thought leadership in BI best practices, data modelling, and analytics processes.
- Support cross-functional teams by offering training and guidance on BI tools, self-service analytics, and data literacy.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in data analytics, BI development, reporting, or a finance analytics role.
- Strong understanding of healthcare / insurance domain processes (preferred).
- Advanced Power BI expertise: DAX, Power Query M, semantic models, dataflows, row-level security, performance tuning.
- Advanced SQL experience: writing complex queries, joins, CTEs, window functions, and data transformations.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, Databricks, or equivalent data engineering tools.
- Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Familiarity with Python (Pandas / PySpark) for data preparation and automation.
- Strong Excel skills (Power Query, formulas, pivot tables).
- Experience with Git or similar version control tools.
