Position Title: Data Analyst (Grant-Funded Position)

Major Function:

The Clinical Systems Analyst is a highly skilled technical and functional expert responsible for the design, optimization, and support of clinical information systems, with a strong emphasis on data architecture, SQL development, and analytics. This role will assist in complex initiatives involving Electronic Health Records (EHR), data integration, and reporting to support clinical operations, regulatory compliance, and grant deliverables.

This position is grant-funded and contingent upon continued funding. The analyst will partner with clinical leadership, IT, and external stakeholders to drive data-informed decision-making and ensure the integrity, accessibility, and usability of clinical data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of clinical systems and data solutions, including EHR platforms and ancillary systems
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize complex MS-SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and data models to support reporting and analytics
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for clinical data structures, data extraction, and database performance tuning
  • Design and support data integrations and interfaces between EHR systems, HIEs, and third-party applications
  • Translate clinical and operational requirements into scalable technical and data-driven solutions
  • Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Metabase
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, quality reporting programs)
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of complex system and data issues, coordinating with vendors and internal teams
  • Mentor junior analysts and provide technical leadership across clinical systems and data initiatives
  • Support grant reporting requirements by developing automated data extraction and reporting processes
  • Participate in system upgrades, implementations, and data migration efforts
  • Drive workflow optimization and process improvement initiatives using data insights
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Nursing, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience supporting clinical systems in a healthcare environment
  • Advanced proficiency in MS-SQL, including complex query development, performance tuning, indexing strategies, and database design
  • Strong experience with healthcare data models, EHR databases (e.g., Epic, NextGen, Cerner), and clinical workflows
  • Proven experience in data extraction, transformation, and reporting in a healthcare setting
  • Experience with data visualization and analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Metabase
  • Solid understanding of healthcare regulations and standards, including HIPAA
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to lead projects, manage competing priorities, and collaborate across technical and clinical teams
  • Proven ability to leverage AI technologies to automate workflows and transform, analyze and manipulate data efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with grant-funded programs and reporting requirements
  • Experience with HL7/FHIR interfaces and healthcare interoperability standards
  • Certification in Clinical Informatics, SQL, or relevant EHR platforms
  • Experience with data warehousing, ETL processes, and population health analytics
