Job Brief
OnePoint BFG Wealth Partners is hiring a Data Analyst to join the Data team. This role partners closely with the Platform Operations team to provide first line Orion triage and ownership of Orion data governance, while contributing to data engineering initiatives across the firm's analytics stack. The analyst will be trained on Orion by senior platform staff and will grow into the firm's go to resource for Orion data quality, source validation, data lineage, and the firm's data catalog.
This is a high visibility opportunity for an early career engineer to build deep wealth technology expertise while shipping meaningful data infrastructure work in a regulated, fast moving environment.
Reporting Structure
This role reports to the Solutions Architect on the Data team. The analyst will partner closely with the Platform team for Orion training, business context, and escalation pathways.
Key Responsibilities
Orion Triage & Business Context (~20%)
Serve as the first line for routine Orion data and reporting questions from internal teams. Build deep business context across Orion workflows, integrations, and reporting structures by partnering with senior platform staff. Escalate performance, cost basis, and client facing inquiries to senior team members for resolution.
Data Pipeline & Database Development (~30%)
Build and maintain data pipelines, API extracts, file loads, and event driven syncs. Develop ingestion routines from Salesforce, Orion, eMoney, custodial sources, and emerging data sources into the firm's AWS data warehouse. Apply Python, SQL, REST API, and PostgreSQL skills to scalable, production grade data engineering.
Source Validation at Ingestion Boundaries (~20%)
Implement validation rules at the source layer across Orion data share, AppFlow, SFTP, and other ingestion paths. Catch data quality breaks at the boundary rather than downstream. Develop reconciliation routines, exception handling, and alerting that protect the integrity of analytics and reporting outputs.
End to End Data Flow Mapping (~15%)
Map data lineage from source systems through landing, transformation, and presentation layers in Tableau and other consuming applications. Document data flows, dependencies, and ownership to support analytics, audit readiness, and operational resilience.
Data Catalog Stand Up (~15%)
Contribute to the greenfield build of the firm's data catalog, including live metadata capture, lineage visualization, and verified data set flags. Partner with the Solutions Architect on tool evaluation, taxonomy design, and progressive rollout across the analytics stack.
Qualifications
Experience
0 to 3 years of relevant experience in data engineering, software engineering, or analytics, including substantive internships. Exposure to financial services, RIA, or other regulated environments is a plus.
Technical Skills
Working proficiency in Python, SQL, and PostgreSQL or comparable relational databases. Hands on experience building REST APIs, ETL pipelines, and data validation logic. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), C# or other strongly typed languages, and visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) is advantageous. Comfort working with structured data validation, reconciliation, and ingestion patterns.
Operational & Business Acumen
Curiosity for the wealth management business model and willingness to build domain knowledge in portfolio accounting, custodial data, and advisor operations under senior mentorship. Ability to translate business questions into data and platform requirements.
Analytical Skills
Demonstrated ability to investigate complex data quality issues, identify root causes, and design durable solutions. Strong attention to detail, structured problem solving, and clear written communication.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
