Duties Description
The Data Analyst 1 will produce analytics engineering solutions in the Data Engineering Unit in the Center for Health Data Innovation. The Data Engineering Unit is responsible for developing and operating large scale, enterprise data solutions and application that helps to guide policy and decision-making in healthcare and public health. The Data Engineering unit is a highly collaborative team that requires effective communication and problem-solving skills, as well as strong technical skills.
Work with Product Manager’s and Senior Data Engineers to conduct technical requirements gathering and project scoping sessions with subject matter experts and stakeholders to discover and define data needs.
Work with analysts to design and test data pipelines, focused on dbt modeling and data transformations.
Work with Senior Data Engineers to build automations and ELT solutions.
Achieve standards in data reliability, data integrity and data governance, enabling accurate, consistent, and trustworthy data sets, business intelligence products, and analyses.
Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Four years of experience* in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools and satisfactory completion of a two-year traineeship; OR six years of experience* in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools.

Substitution: An associate’s degree may substitute for two years of general experience; or a bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of general experience. A master’s degree in data or computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field, may substitute for one year of general experience; or a Ph.D. in these fields may substitute for two years of general experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Strong skills in SQL, including joins, aggregations, and window functions.
A basic understanding of data warehouse concepts and modeling techniques.
Basic to intermediate proficiency in Python scripting and automation.
Familiarity with version control systems (Git).
Familiarity with dbt and jinja.
Quick learner with ability to swiftly grasp new methods and technologies.
Proven ability to work both independently on projects and as part of a larger team.
Possess strong analytical thinking and critical reasoning skills with an aptitude for problem-solving.
Additional Comments
Technical skills needed for this role: Intermediate SQL, Beginner Python, Beginner Git, and familiarity writing code in an IDE.
