Duties
The Department of Financial Services is seeking candidates for the position of Data Analyst 3 in the Technology Bureau. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Collaborates directly with customers to support and deliver complex analytical projects;

Performs detailed analysis and interpretation of data;

Reviews data sources and evaluates reports prepared by staff to ensure accuracy and completeness;

Oversees the development of informational materials and documentation related to analytics solutions;

Evaluates current and proposed systems and processes, recommending improvements as needed;

Supervises and provides guidance to a team of Data Analysts;

Partners with the data warehouse team to ensure accurate data mapping that meets customer reporting requirements;

Works with the Data Architect to develop strategies and direction aligned with the division’s strategic plan;

Coordinates with the Data Governance team to maintain accuracy, consistency, and standardization across datasets; and
-
Other duties as assigned.
Appointment Method
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications listed below in order to be eligible for appointment.
Non-Competitive
One year of permanent service as a Data Analyst 2 Or nine years of experience* in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools, of which two years must have been at a supervisory level.

Substitution: Associate degree may substitute for two years of specialized experience; bachelor's degree may substitute for four years of specialized experience; master's degree may substitute for five years of specialized experience; J.D. may substitute for six years of specialized experience; Ph.D. may substitute for seven years of specialized experience.

Salary: The starting salary for this position is $106,898 with periodic increases up to $131,665
Positions located within the New York City metropolitan area, as well as Suffolk, Nassau, Rockland, and Westchester Counties, are also eligible to receive an additional $4,000 annual downstate adjustment.
