Summary
A Data Analyst for Quality Management Informatics is responsible for sourcing data from company systems, and cleaning & aligning the data in accurate ways which ensure the integrity of the information it represents.
The primary responsibilities of this position are to understand the information from a policy and industry perspective, to understand the formats of the data from a technical perspective, and to write SQL scripts (and sometimes Excel formulas) to best organize the data for sharing with others. This may include creating Stored-Procedures, Dynamic Views, New Tables, Crosswalk Tables, and Power Query reports.
The secondary responsibilities of this position are to work directly with a Reporting Analyst to support all other internal and external representations of the data. Supporting evolving reporting asks and ensuring the accuracy of the information being provided -from the vantage point of the audience.
Requirements include ongoing professional development, strong technical capabilities, niche industry knowledge, and the ability to ensure that deadlines are met consistently and with work that represents the absolute best efforts of the team.
The primary objective of this position is to ensure that MedPOINT maintains a competitive advantage in the Quality Management arena by ensuring that MedPOINT employs only the most skilled Data Analysts in the California HEDIS and Risk Adjustment Data Arena.
Preference for new hires with minimal prior Data Analytics experience, but with existing industry experience elsewhere. This position will report directly to the Team Lead, Quality Management Informatics.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Directly Support the Team Lead, Quality Management Informatics by ensuring that information regarding ongoing progress with projects and assigned tasks is communicated appropriately, timely, and with the utmost professionalism.
- Directly Support the Team Lead, Quality Management Informatics by ensuring the timely delivery of complex projects assigned out to them, and assisting their teammates in order to ensure that all Data Analyst and Reporting Analyst deliverables are met with no perception of delay to our clients.
- Create formal Documentation, Training Videos, and Visual Aids & Workflows to help summarize and communicate complex processes to the business and to clients.
- Create and maintain technical documentation including data flow diagrams, project plans, thorough code commenting, and process lists to allow others to follow, repeat, and implement your work.
- Participate in peer-to-peer code review sessions to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices and query optimization directives. Lead and present to MedPOINT code and product review sessions as requested.
- Assist in the deployment and release of Low Code Applications, Dashboards, as well as assisting in the automation of proprietary Member, Claim, and Provider Detail Lists.
- Mentor, support, and partner with other Quality Management Analysts, Information Technology Peers, and Finance Analysts.
- Perform direct QA testing, review, and debugging of all implemented code within Quality Management in order to ensure personal awareness, certify that it meets accuracy, reliability, and functionality standards.
- Identify and fix bugs, performance bottlenecks, and other issues found through code debugging and end-user product troubleshooting. Validating code prior to deployment into production.
- Ensuring that all finished work is reviewed for errors including: spelling errors, formatting errors, data errors, reasonability issues, and consistency issues. Measured by the lack of correction of our work from the business (internal) or our clients (external).
- Assist teammates with the development of applications and reports as requested.
- Spend one hour per week in ongoing technological development, focusing on the future needs of the business such as Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Lake structures. Share a summary of this weekly knowledge with the Team Lead, Quality Management Informatics.
- Spend one hour per week in ongoing Quality Management development, focusing on the industry trends and future needs of the business involving the State of California’s performance expectations, NCQA performance standards, Medicare Stars performance standards, and AMP performance standards. Share a summary of this weekly knowledge and industry updates with the Team Lead, Quality Management Informatics.
Minimum Job Requirements
- BS or BA in Business Analytics, or Trade School Graduate in Technology Preferred
- 1+ Years in General Data Analysis, Medical Data Analysis preferred
- 2+ Years in HEDIS and Risk Adjustment Data Analysis in a managed care environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which would provide the required knowledge and skills to qualify for this position.
Skill and Abilities
- Working knowledge of HEDIS reporting
- Working knowledge of Medicare and STAR ratings
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
