Fusion Health is seeking a highly motivated and technically strong Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain the data assets that power our mission-critical HealthTech analytics and reporting platforms. This role requires someone who can own SQL development, reporting logic, and data modeling efforts end-to-end, work independently with minimal oversight, and contribute to the reliability and scalability of our enterprise data environment.
As a key contributor within the Data & Engineering Analytics (DEA) team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and performance of the data pipelines, semantic models, and reporting structures that our clients and internal teams rely on. This includes developing and optimizing complex SQL, building SSRS and Power BI reporting assets, validating data integrity across large healthcare datasets, and collaborating with product, engineering, and client-facing teams to translate business needs into technical output.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, refine, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and views within Azure SQL, SQL Server, and other relational environments.

Ensure SQL logic meets standards for accuracy, maintainability, and performance across large clinical and operational datasets.

Build, upgrade, and maintain SSRS reports used by both internal stakeholders and correctional healthcare clients.
-
Translate report requirements into parameterized, scalable SSRS assets with strong attention to detail and data validation.
-
Troubleshoot report logic, dataset queries, and layout formatting to ensure accuracy and usability.
-
Design and deliver Power BI dashboards leveraging best practices in data modeling, DAX, visual design, and user experience.
-
Support dataset creation, semantic modeling, and reusable data structures that power enterprise analytics.
-
Collaborate with SMEs and product stakeholders to iterate quickly and deliver intuitive dashboards.
-
Apply core warehousing concepts—facts, dimensions, star schema relationships—to support consistent enterprise reporting.
-
Assist in building and refining dimensional models that support cross-client reporting standards.
-
Contribute to semantic consistency and shared KPI logic across the organization.
-
Work with healthcare interoperability formats such as HL7, FHIR, and X12/EDI transactions, particularly 837/835 claim workflows.

Interpret EHR and clinical data structures, including encounters, medications, orders, vitals, and documentation workflows.

Help validate mapping logic, business rules, and data behaviors unique to correctional healthcare.

Investigate data inconsistencies, latency issues, logic discrepancies, and client-specific edge cases.
-
Perform root-cause analysis and propose practical, well-reasoned fixes.
-
Collaborate with technical, product, and clinical SMEs to ensure business logic aligns with intended workflow.

Communicate data findings clearly and concisely, ensuring stakeholders understand scope, constraints, and timelines.

Support client onboarding, change requests, and enhancements with high responsiveness and professionalism.

Own assigned deliverables end-to-end with minimal supervision.
Qualifications Required:

Strong SQL proficiency (Azure SQL, SQL Server; complex joins, windowing, optimization).

Experience with SSRS for building and maintaining operational and clinical reporting.

Proficiency with Power BI including DAX, data modeling, and dashboard design.

Experience with Azure data ecosystem (Azure SQL Database, Azure Storage, Azure pipelines or equivalent) preferred.

Working knowledge of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and semantic-layer design.

Experience working with healthcare operational workflows, or clinical data models.

Strong ability to analyze data problems, validate logic, and drive issues to resolution.

Ability to interpret requirements and convert ambiguous input into structured technical output.

Ability to work with cross-functional teams including clinical SMEs, product leaders, and client-facing teams.

Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to clearly explain data logic and reporting behavior.

Independent contributor capable of owning tasks from requirements through delivery.

Additional Details:

This is an on-site (hybrid), full-time, salaried position at our Woodbridge, NJ office location. Our normal hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Compensation:

Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 annually.
