Data Engineer

About the Role:

We are looking for a skilled Data Engineer to join our team in Dubai. You will work with cross-functional teams to manage data systems, build robust data pipelines, and support analytics and reporting solutions using Power BI and Talend. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, a data-oriented mindset, and experience handling diverse data sources and integration challenges.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage master data, including creation, updates, and deletion within Power BI.
• Administer user access and roles, including Row-Level Security configurations.
• Handle and process confidential data in accordance with internal guidelines.
• Develop reports, analyses, and visualizations in collaboration with various departments using Power BI.
• Maintain, optimize, and troubleshoot existing Power BI dashboards.
• Configure and connect APIs to support data automation and integration.
• Support initiatives focused on data quality, integrity, and standardization.
• Conduct testing, implement new or upgraded software solutions, and assist in strategic decisions related to data systems.
• Generate reports from single or multiple source systems.
• Diagnose and resolve issues within the reporting environment and datasets.
• Assess the impact of changes or updates to source production systems.
• Apply technical expertise in data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing.
• Contribute to the development of low-code applications (Power Apps) aligned with business needs.
• Design and maintain scalable ETL pipelines with Talend to ingest, transform, and load data from diverse sources into a structured data warehouse (star/snowflake schemas).
• Optimize Talend workflows with data quality checks, error handling, and performance tuning to ensure reliable, well-modeled datasets for analytics and reporting.

Qualification

• Expertise in Power BI (Power Query, DAX, data modeling, Power BI Service, Row-Level Security).
• Strong understanding of data modeling principles.
• Experience connecting and integrating APIs with Power BI.
• Proficiency in ETL processes and data preparation.
• Knowledge of SQL (querying, joins, transformations).
• Familiarity with data warehousing and relational database concepts.
• ETL Development & Data Integration.
• Data Modeling (Star/Snowflake Schemas).
• Experience with Power Automate and/or Power Apps (nice to have).
• Understanding of data governance, data quality, and normalization concepts.
• Ability to troubleshoot data refresh issues, gateway configurations, and performance bottlenecks.
• Experience working with multiple data sources (Excel, databases, cloud services, APIs, etc.).
• Educational: Bachelor’s/Master’s degree from an accredited university or college in a computer science–related program.

Preferred Skills

• Work experience as a data analyst or in a related field.
• Ability to analyze existing tools and databases and provide software solution recommendations.
• Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets and relational databases.
• High-level written and verbal communication skills.
