Data Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Data Engineer for a Contract with a client in Austin, TX/Sunnyvale, CA. This role requires strong Java and big‑data pipeline engineering experience across Hadoop and AWS as a core qualification.

Rate Range: $53/hour to $56/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Data Engineer Job Responsibilities Include

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines across on‑prem Hadoop ecosystems and AWS cloud environments.
• Develop and enhance Java applications, utilities, and internal libraries used for data ingestion, validation, and transformation.
• Build and optimize Spark/PySpark and Kafka‑based batch and streaming pipelines for large‑scale data processing.
• Develop and maintain Airflow DAGs to support orchestration, scheduling, and workflow automation.
• Perform data migrations and synchronization from HDFS to AWS S3 while ensuring data quality, monitoring, and validation.
• Troubleshoot production issues, support Iceberg and AWS external tables, and collaborate with platform, analytics, and observability teams to ensure SLA compliance.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 6–8 years of experience in data engineering, with strong expertise across Hadoop and AWS ecosystems.
• Proven experience developing Java-based data processing tools and working with Spark, Kafka, and Airflow for large‑scale data pipelines.
• Strong proficiency in AWS (S3, Glue, EMR), SQL, and Python, with hands‑on experience supporting production data environments.

Pay Details: $53.00 to $56.00 per hour
