Data Engineer

Description:

HyerTek is seeking a Data Engineer to support the design, development, and execution of data migration and analytics solutions across a variety of legacy systems to Microsoft products, with a focus on Dataverse, Power Platform, and Microsoft Fabric.

This role will be responsible for migrating data from legacy and third-party systems (e.g., Jira, Microsoft Planner, SharePoint, and other enterprise platforms) into modern data environments, while also enabling reporting and analytics through Power BI and Fabric.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in data engineering, ETL processes, data modeling, and Microsoft data platforms, with the ability to build scalable, high-quality data pipelines and reporting solutions.

Requirements:

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from legacy and third-party systems into Dataverse and analytics platforms.
• Lead data migration efforts from systems such as Jira, Microsoft Planner, SharePoint, and other enterprise data sources.
• Develop and implement data mapping, transformation, cleansing, and validation processes to ensure data integrity.
• Design and maintain data models and schemas optimized for Dataverse and reporting use cases.
• Build and support Power BI dashboards and reports to enable business insights and decision-making.
• Work with Microsoft Fabric (e.g., data pipelines, lakehouses, or warehouses) to support modern analytics solutions.
• Collaborate with functional and technical teams to understand data requirements and business needs.
• Ensure data solutions align with security, governance, and compliance standards.
• Monitor and optimize data performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Document data architecture, pipelines, and migration processes.

Required Qualifications

• 4–7+ years of experience in data engineering, data migration, or analytics engineering.
• Strong experience with data migration from legacy and third-party systems (e.g., Jira, Planner, SharePoint, or similar).
• Experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (e.g., Python).
• Experience with Dataverse or relational data modeling concepts.
• Hands-on experience with Power BI (data modeling, DAX, report development).
• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric or modern cloud data platforms.
• Experience with data transformation, cleansing, and validation techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or other Azure data services.
• Experience working with Power Platform / Dataverse integrations.
• Experience supporting federal or public sector clients.
• Microsoft certifications (Azure Data Engineer, Power BI, or related).
• Familiarity with data governance and data quality frameworks.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $110,000 – $130,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, location, and contract requirements.
