Summary:
Seeking an Analytics Developer to join a large healthcare IT project. You will be part of a team building and maintaining enterprise grade data pipelines on a Hadoop platform. This hands-on role (hybrid onsite in Jacksonville 2–3 days/week) focuses on data processing (not reporting or BI). You’ll convert and enhance data workflows (e.g. migrating legacy ETL to SQL) and ensure smooth production operations. The contract is W-2 for 12 months (with possible extension), and candidates must have permanent US work authorization.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain batch data processing workflows using Hadoop/Spark. Write and enhance code (Python, PySpark, etc.) for ETL tasks.
- Design, code and unit-test data solutions; convert existing ETL (e.g. AB Initio) to SQL stored procedures as needed.
- Collaborate with analysts, data engineers and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions.
- Write technical specifications and documentation for subsystems and integration points.
- Review code from peers and drive coding standards and best practices.
- Troubleshoot and debug production data jobs; ensure data quality and performance in the Hadoop ecosystem.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering or software development.
- Strong SQL skills, including writing stored procedures, joins, indexing, and data manipulation.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Spark (PySpark or Spark SQL).
- Experience with Python in a data processing context.
- Familiarity with Hadoop fundamentals(HDFS, MapReduce/YARN basics).
- Ability to work with large datasets and understand ETL processes.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder (no H1Bs).
- Local to Jacksonville (or willing to relocate) and available to work onsite ~2–3 days per week.
- B.S. in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred/Bonus:
- Any experience with AB Initio or other ETL tools (for understanding legacy migrations).
- Knowledge of healthcare or insurance domain data.
- Exposure to data warehousing concepts, Hive/Oozie, or cloud services (AWS/GCP/Azure).
