Job Title: Data Manager

Reports To: Executive Director

School/Program: Lumin Education

Status: Part-Time, Hourly, 260-day year

Hours: Up to 25 hours per week or an average of 80 hours per month

Summary:

The Data Manager role contributes to our mission of transforming education by creating learning environments that inspire and empower children from all cultural and economic backgrounds. The Data Manager is responsible for managing data from multiple sources, ensuring data consistency, and maintaining data integrity. The Data Manager organizes, accumulates, and analyzes data in a systematic and efficient manner to develop consolidated reports for internal and external use. The Data Manager collaborates with School Directors and Supervisors to ensure they know the data collection dates and to support them with processes, training and information for consistent and accurate input and output of data. The Data Manager will oversee the upkeep of the Data Warehouse.

Responsibilities:

  • · Gain an understanding of Lumin’s data collection systems and assist in developing processes, as needed, to ensure the integrity of the data – from data input to data extraction to data reporting.
  • · Apply an understanding of Montessori data collection methods and child assessment practices to guide data entry, reporting, and quality assurance processes in alignment with Lumin’s philosophy.
  • · Develop and document an easily replicable process for downloading, manipulating and consolidating data into required reporting for external and internal sources.
  • · Collect, assimilate and provide reports on the following data:

o Student demographic and assessment data at BOY and EOY

o Student intervention data at EOY from Interventionist and Montessori Mentor

o Parent Volunteer information at EOY from Development Associate (for LPCS) and BLCS Office Coordinator

o Snapshot data for the Internal Stats Sheet at BOY

o Data for Data Warehouse annually at EOY

  • · Maintain calendar of data collection schedule and, when appropriate, request data from stakeholders.
  • · Continuously monitor data sources to identify areas of inconsistent or missing data and work with supervisors to train staff and clean data as needed.
  • · Work with Chief Development Officer, School Directors, and Montessori Mentor annually to confirm or revise academic measurements for external reporting.
  • · Assess data requirements for ROI and strategic alignment in consultation with the Executive Director. Identify low-value tasks, determine which can be automated, and consolidate entry requirements wherever possible.
  • · Support Directors and Supervisors as they receive and respond to data requests throughout the year.
  • · Train/support stakeholders in creating or downloading reports – for their own data needs as well as for the external and internal reports the Data Manager uses.
  • · Work with software vendors, as needed, to enhance our ability to create reports, to request them to create reports, and to understand how to interpret the data.
  • · Work closely with the Data Fellow to support timely and complete data transfer into the Data Warehouse.

Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manipulate and interpret data sets
  • · Strong communication skills
  • · Ability to impart the value and necessity of clean, accurate data to stakeholders
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Solid comprehension of modern database technologies
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

Experience as a data manager or data analyst for 3+ years

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour

  • Bachelor's (Preferred)

Experience:
