Data Privacy Intern

The Data Privacy Intern works under the direction of the Information Security Officer (ISO) and supports the City's data privacy and information governance efforts. This position assists with the organization, expansion, and maintenance of privacy-related processes, documentation, and activities that help protect the City's data assets. The Data Privacy Intern will work supporting both administrative and operational privacy functions. This role provides hands-on experience in municipal data privacy practices, including data inventory efforts, documentation of data flows and processes, support for privacy program documentation, and data minimization review activities. The intern will collaborate with IT, the information security team, and city business units to promote responsible data handling practices aligned with City policies and applicable standards.

Current enrollment in a university program in Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Public Administration, Law, or a related field.Basic understanding of data privacy concepts, information management, or cybersecurity principles. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records. Ability to collect, organize, and document information clearly and effectively. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a professional environment. Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion and integrity. Proficiency in standard productivity software (e.g., Google Workspace or similar tools). Analytical thinking skills with attention to detail. Willingness to learn and develop knowledge of data privacy practices, laws, and standards. Maintains a valid Utah Driver's License.

Individual starting salary will depend on qualifications, certifications, and experience. The City also provides a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
