A Data Privacy Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing an organization's data protection policies and ensuring compliance with relevant privacy laws and regulations. This role is crucial for protecting sensitive information, managing data breaches, and fostering a culture of data privacy within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Policy Development: Create and update comprehensive data privacy policies to maintain compliance with laws such as GDPR or CCPA.
- Compliance Monitoring: Oversee and audit organizational data practices to ensure ongoing adherence to applicable privacy regulations.
- Risk Assessments and DPIAs: Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) to identify privacy risks in new projects or business processes and propose mitigation measures.
- Incident Response: Manage the response to data breaches, coordinate investigation and reporting, and ensure timely notification to authorities and affected individuals.
- Training & Awareness: Develop and deliver staff training programs to promote data privacy awareness and educate employees on best practices.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with IT, HR, Legal, Marketing, and Compliance teams to embed privacy by design principles and ensure consistent implementation of privacy policies.
- Individual Rights Management: Address subject access requests and individual complaints relating to personal data.
- Regulatory Monitoring: Stay current with changes in data protection laws and communicate required organizational changes to stakeholders.
