Data Quality Intern

Job Summary

Plutus21 is seeking a Data Quality Intern to support the firm's data validation and backend cleaning processes.

This internship is designed for individuals who are detail oriented, comfortable working with data, and interested in learning how backend systems handle, clean, and validate large sets of records. The intern will work closely with the engineering and data teams to verify the accuracy of records in the firm's databases, run validation scripts, and apply filtering and scoring logic to clean and structure data correctly.

The role is hands on and technical. The intern will spend most of their time cross-checking source links against database records, writing and running Python scripts, and contributing to the firm's broader effort to keep its data accurate and reliable. The internship offers exposure to real backend workflows used by an active investment firm and is well suited to candidates who want to build practical experience in data validation, scripting, and backend development.

Key Responsibilities

• Cross-check source links against database records to confirm data accuracy and document discrepancies clearly
• Write and run Python scripts to validate, clean, and standardize data across the firm's records
• Apply filtering and scoring logic independently based on written instructions, and test the logic against sample data before running it at scale
• Support routine backend cleaning tasks such as deduplication, formatting standardization, and missing field detection
• Work with at least one Python backend framework (Flask, FastAPI, or Django) to understand how cleaning scripts integrate with the larger system
• Communicate progress and blockers clearly in weekly check-ins, and ask questions early when instructions or data sources are unclear
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• Basic working knowledge of Python, including the ability to read, write, and run scripts independently
• Familiarity with at least one Python backend framework — Flask, FastAPI, or Django
• Comfortable with manual data verification work and able to maintain accuracy over long sessions
• Able to understand written logic and translate it into working code with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to recheck work before marking it complete
• Strong written communication skills in English
