We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist with expertise in Large Language Models (LLMs) and a strong background in healthcare data, particularly clinical documentation and prior authorization workflows. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying AI solutions that transform the prior authorization process and how clinicians interact with unstructured medical data.
What You Will Be Doing:
Design and fine-tune LLMs (e.g., GPT, Claude, BERT) for healthcare-specific NLP and NLU tasks
Develop methods to extract, summarize, and interpret information from clinical documents such as prior authorization requests, encounter history, progress notes, lab results, etc.
Build and optimize RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and prompt engineering strategies for real-time decision support
Apply Optical Character Recognition (OCR) techniques to digitize and process scanned clinical documents
Use LLMs to identify automation and clinical intervention opportunities using deterministic and probabilistic methods by analyzing historical operations data
Summarize lengthy clinical documents into concise, structured patient summaries to support clinician decision-making and workflow efficiency
Identify relevant information from clinical records to support clinical reviews in alignment with service-specific medical policies
Build scalable, cloud-based AI systems that integrate seamlessly with existing platform architecture and infrastructure, ensuring reliability, maintainability, and performance
Continuously analyze performance metrics and operational logs to identify improvement opportunities
Collaborate with product, engineering, and clinical teams to integrate AI models into production systems
Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure applications are interpretable, actionable, and aligned with practical applications
Stay current with advancements in LLMs, healthcare AI, and regulatory frameworks

Proficiency with Azure AI services and infrastructure, including Azure OpenAI, and related tools for deployment and scaling
Experience with agentic AI systems, including multi-agent orchestration, autonomous task execution, and integration with healthcare workflows
Experience with OCR technologies (e.g., Tesseract, Azure Document Intelligence, Amazon Textract) and cloud-based NLP tools for processing unstructured healthcare data
Experience with CI/CD pipelines for automating testing, deployment, and monitoring of LLM-based systems in production environments.
Strong analytical skills to interpret model performance data and identify optimization opportunities
Proven ability to optimize application performance, including improving code efficiency, right-sizing infrastructure usage, and reducing system latency
Experience implementing rollback strategies, including version control, rollback triggers, and safe deployment practices across lower and upper environments
2+ years of experience with Github, Github Actions, CI/CD, and source control
2+ years working within an Agile environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with prior authorization workflows, payer-provider interactions, or utilization management
Strong experience working with clinical text data and healthcare ontologies (e.g., SNOMED, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, NDC)
Experience leveraging LLMs for feature extraction to support downstream machine learning models, including classification, regression, and clustering tasks
Healthcare experience, particularly using administrative and prior authorization data
Proven experience developing and deploying LLM-based systems into production environments
Experience working with Product, Engineering, Infrastructure, and Architecture teams
To ensure a secure hiring process we have implemented several identity verification steps, including submission of a government issued photo ID. We conduct identity verification during interviews, and final interviews may require onsite attendance. All candidates must complete a comprehensive background check, in-person I-9 verification, and may be subject to drug screening prior to employment. The use of artificial intelligence tools during interviews is prohibited and monitored. Misrepresentation will result in immediate disqualification from consideration.
