Position Overview

World Services LLC, an IT engineering, solutions, and management consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to support a federal agency on an enterprise-wide digital transformation initiative.

The Data Scientist develops predictive and advanced analytical solutions using statistical and machine learning techniques, focusing on model development, experimentation, and insight generation. The role leverages curated, analytics-ready data from engineering-built platforms to evaluate outcomes and deliver actionable insights, without owning data platform architecture or CI/CD pipelines.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Data Scientist designs, develops, and evaluates statistical and machine learning models to solve complex analytical problems. Working with stakeholders, product teams, and data engineers, this role translates business questions into analytical approaches and communicates results to technical and non-technical audiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, train, and evaluate statistical and machine learning models.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify patterns and trends.
  • Design and implement feature engineering approaches.
  • Validate models using appropriate metrics and testing techniques.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to consume curated datasets and feature pipelines.
  • Translate business and mission problems into analytical solutions.
  • Communicate findings, assumptions, and results to stakeholders.
  • Support model lifecycle activities including documentation and monitoring.

Collaboration & Technical Leadership

  • Support production operations and issue resolution.
  • Produce technical documentation.

Align with the agency’s data Program Management Office (PMO) related requirements and governance standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in data science or applied analytics roles.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and common data science libraries.
  • Experience with statistical modeling and machine learning algorithms.
  • Experience performing exploratory data analysis and feature engineering.
  • Ability to translate analytical results into actionable insights.
  • Experience working with large datasets in cloud or distributed environments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with predictive or prescriptive analytics.
  • Familiarity with big data frameworks such as Spark.
  • Experience with model deployment, monitoring, or MLOps.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical or regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

Pay: $175,000.00 - $185,000.00 per year
