Data Scientist

Aegis seeks to hire a Data Scientist to join a rapidly growing department that provides analytics research and services to both internal and external customers. The successful candidate will report to an Aegis physical location in Tyson’s Corner, VA, or Mobile, AL. Both in-office and hybrid working arrangements may be considered.

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytically strong Data Scientist to contribute to and create advanced data-focused solutions supporting our global telecommunications clients. As a member of the Data Intelligence Department the ideal candidate will regularly integrate knowledge of data science, applied AI, and machine learning for predictive modeling and analysis. This is a position requiring focus and flexibility, independence, effective organizational skills, and a willingness to improvise when crafting novel solutions.

As a member of the Data Intelligence Department the ideal candidate will investigate and capture the data and intelligence needed to deliver business analytics for brand protection, partner risk assessment, and operational insight and efficiency. This is a position requiring excellent analytical and communication skills, understanding of the software development lifecycle, and confidence in presenting to senior-level stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

· Build, validate, and deploy predictive and machine learning models supporting telecom operations

· Work with enterprise data sources including Azure

· Develop data pipelines, transformations, and analytical workflows to support real-time and batch processing

· Create dashboards, reports, and analytical artifacts using Power BI

· Collaborate with internal business units to identify opportunities for data science and AI integration

· Translate analytics and model outputs into actionable recommendations that support strategic decision-making

· Design, build, and refine agentic workflows and LLM-based applications, leveraging frameworks such as LangChain or Azure AI Studio

· Implement AI agents capable of task automation, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and enterprise workflow orchestration

· Evaluate emerging AI technologies and prototype new capabilities for future deployment

· Work with the Data Intelligence team to build scalable, reliable, and secure AI systems

Basic Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field

· 4+ years of professional experience in data science or machine learning engineering

· Strong Python skills, including experience with modern ML/AI libraries

· Advanced SQL experience and comfort working in Azure Data services

· Hands-on experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau

· Strong understanding of traditional machine learning, feature engineering, and statistical methodology

· Familiarity with LLM workflows, embeddings, vector stores, RAG, or modern AI architecture

· Experience with version control, preferably in Azure Repo or directly in Git

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience implementing agentic AI workflows, LLM-based tools, or AI orchestration frameworks.

· Experience with Azure AI, Azure ML, Foundry, Databricks, or similar environments

· Understanding of data governance and PII data handling

· Past telecom industry experience is a plus

· Past work in anomaly/fraud detection or sentiment analysis is a plus
