A fast-growing Series A fintech startup is hiring a Founding Data Scientist to help build and scale the company’s product and marketing data science capabilities from the ground up.

This is a rare opportunity to join an early-stage business at a pivotal growth stage and become one of the first senior hires within a high-performing data team.

The company operates at the intersection of financial services, ecommerce, and data infrastructure, building intelligent financial tools used daily by modern consumer brands.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Building and owning the product data science function from an early stage
• Leading marketing and growth-focused data science initiatives
• Partnering with risk and underwriting teams to deliver deep analytical insights
• Working with large, messy datasets to uncover strategic opportunities
• Influencing product direction through customer-facing analytics and intelligence
• Helping scale a high-performance, product-driven data organisation

What They’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in Data Science, Analytics, Quantitative Research, or similar
• Strong background within Financial Services, FinTech, Hedge Funds, Banking, Market Intelligence, Lending, or related sectors
• Experience building or scaling data products in startup or high-growth environments
• Exceptional SQL skills (absolute must-have)
• Strong Python experience preferred (R also considered)
• Strong statistical modelling and analytical capabilities
• Ability to operate independently and build within ambiguous environments
• Experience dissecting and interpreting large-scale datasets
