Sapient Logic is looking for a highly skilled
Data Scientist
to help solve complex national defense challenges through advanced analytics, machine learning, and large-scale data exploitation. In this role, you will work with mission-relevant data in secure environments, develop scalable analytical solutions, and deliver insights that support high-stakes decision-making for defense customers. Key Responsibilities:

Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and analyzing large datasets in distributed environments

Develop and optimize complex queries for data retrieval and analysis within highly scalable sorted key-value store databases

Analyze structured and unstructured data to identify trends, anomalies, and actionable insights that inform mission and business decisions

Apply statistical analysis, machine learning, and predictive modeling techniques to solve complex operational and technical problems

Partner with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, software developers, and IT specialists, to improve data architecture, scalability, and reliability
-
Support the enhancement of data collection processes and help improve data quality across systems and workflows
-
Build and refine analytics tools, models, and monitoring capabilities to evaluate system performance and data integrity
-
Prepare clear reports, visualizations, and presentations for technical and non-technical stakeholders

Contribute to data governance, compliance, and security practices, particularly in support of sensitive and mission-critical environments

Stay current on emerging data science methods, technologies, and best practices relevant to defense and large-scale data operations
Required Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a Data Scientist or closely related role

Hands-on experience working with distributed key-value store databases, particularly technologies such as
Apache Accumulo

Strong programming skills in
Python, Java, or Scala

Proficiency with
SQL and NoSQL
databases, especially in large-scale data environments

Experience with big data tools and ecosystems such as
Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka
-
Demonstrated success applying machine learning algorithms and statistical modeling techniques to large, complex datasets

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to organize and interpret significant amounts of data with accuracy and attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical findings to non-technical audiences

Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment
-
Active Top Secret clearance required
Preferred Qualifications:
-
7+ years of experience with Python
-
7+ years of experience with SQL
-
Experience supporting the Department of War or other national security customers
-
Familiarity with data governance, security, and privacy requirements in secure computing environments
-
Experience building analytics solutions that support operational decision-making in mission-critical settings
Compensation:
Salary Range:
$100,000 - $160,000 annually
Compensation will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, technical expertise, education, clearance status, and overall alignment with the role.
